 So cute! Arrived fast and book is easy to understand with colorful detailed illustrations

I am new to this craft but really don't have the patience to ever start at the beginning, which has served me well. I was blown away by the incredible cats in this book, even yelling "BS!" out loud a few times looking at the photos of the felted cats. There is NO WAY these are not real cats, but it's true! The artistry is astounding. I am so glad to have bought it as I do love all the little owls, bears and goofy looking things other books feature but wow...if you can aspire to be even close to this book's offerings, life is good.I found a few of the instructions totally different from what everyone else says: this book says to poke the needles in on an angle while everyone else tells you they must go in perfectly straight from above and taken out perfectly straight or they break.Another puzzler was that although the types of wonderful wool are explained in this book, one of the two types this author uses is not sold internationally so you are out of luck (the creator of these cats is Japanese.) It would have been nice to know if there are comparable wools since this is a globally sold book or at least some suggestions made. I assumed the creator wrote the book herself but all through the book she is referred to in the 3rd person by name, and often. Like every 3 sentences. It's a bit weird.I agree with one reviewer about the faces. So much detail is given to other techniques and parts of Making Cats, but as to the faces, which to me is THE thing that will grip the soul, you have a white ball of wool and then are told to shape it like a cat. No close ups as to how you make those little cheeks, or the delicate rims around the eyes. It is very great as far as some different techniques I've not read before, like using 2 wire cat brushes to "card" your wool and make it all even, using paint brush bristles for whiskers. If I can make a cat from this book even 1/40 th this beautiful I will be happy. They are all examples to strive for, and the author is a master!

I have been needle felting animals for a couple years now. This book is for an experienced needlefelter. The photos of Hinali's realistic cats are simply the best! The directions and diagrams are very clear! I love this book! I pre-ordered it in the summer and it was well worth the wait. Great directions for apply realistic cat fur with wool, setting the eyes, and facial and body proportions. Also tips for correcting mistakes. I'm so happy I bought it. My Siamese tortise shell boy cat passed on a few months ago at the age of 16 and one of the photos reminds me of him. I want to make a little sculpture of him and get a real kitten.

There's no question that she is one of the best cat artists around, but the instruction for doing the cats head is really lacking. The pictures are so small (and the wool, being white, is difficult to photograph with clarity), making it nearly impossible to "see" the directions. I had to get out my magnifying glass to figure it out. In the end, I winged it and figured out how to make the cat heads with my own trial and error methods. Other than that, the illustrations are very helpful and many useful tips are included, along with photos of her stunning creations.

Wow! I anxiously awaited delivery of the book and it was definitely worth it! It will take some practice to incorporate Hinali's techniques properly, but the numerous all-color photos are gorgeous, and inspiring, and the techniques as described by her are simple and thorough. I have worked in a shelter with cats for years, and have a practiced eye for the nuances of their postures and quirky but subtle personality expressions. Some of these are so lifelike even I would swear they are real cats. Hinali is a true Master. It is very generous of her to share her secrets.

What an amazing artist. The photos and step by step instructions give me hope that I will be able to duplicate the project I choose.

BEAUTIFUL photos!!! It’s translated, few things get lost. The instructions are ok. I had hoped they would be smaller. The actualSize when complete is the size of an actualKitten. If you are an avid advanced needle felter then jump in. It’s beautiful stuff!

This is probably one of the nicest books I have ever purchased. The photographs are breathtaking and the wool likenesses of the various types and colors of cats is beyond my imagination. This author/artist is very skilled. I can only hope to attain half her talent. Great value to say the least.

Whereas both exude confidence and a common vitriol to the hounding press and media, Bode comes across as introspective, self admittedly shy, compared to the all confident, all conquering Maier.Both are obviously very special athletes - Maier crushing the race courses and his opponents on the World Cup circuit, but Bode perhaps his own demons in his quest to find meaning in life. It was rather surprising to learn that winning at all costs is not central to Bode's life.For ski racers, both are a good read. A bit plodding at times to maintain a high level of interest, but a good view of what makes each of them tick and keep at the great white circus.

Bode, love him or hate him, tells it like it is. The complete opposite of politically correct, he is, in this interesting, hallarious, insightful autobiography, truthful in the way most people have forgotten how to be.

Bode Miller unfiltered. A nice antidote to most other professional athletes and pop personalities. Worthwhile reading

I enjoyed his story

A tell it like it was and is book. I hope this will get my 9 year old son pumped for next years race season.

I bought this book mainly because I am a skier and racer and was interested in Bode's racing expeiences. The family history was charming but not that different from any of us that live in northern N.H. I was a bit disappointed when he spent the final chapters going on about the war in Iraq. There are plenty of books about that.
