Prior to reading this book, I had no background in legal studies. So I wasn't very excited about reading this book, because I thought that it would be full of legal terms that it would be impossible for me to understand. However, it wasn't like that. Well, yes, there are lots of legal terms, but the authors did such a great job explaining those terms in a way that it was easy to understand for a law novice like me.We had to read the whole book for our legal class, I spent hours and hours on this book, and I don't regret it at all. It provides comprehensive understanding of the legal aspects in higher education. It begins with the sources of laws in higher education, then explores all the relationship aspects of higher education institutions, such as the relationship with its students, with the all levels of government, external agencies and organizations, etc. Each chapter provides case studies, backgrounds, and application to today's higher education. It is really a great book and wort every penny.No matter what it is that you do in colleges and universities, the presence of legal issues are there. So I would recommend this book to law students, students studying higher educations, and everyone who works at a college or university. Everyone can find the aspects that are relevance to their course of studies or work in this book, along with learning more about other aspects that you might not know about. I learned a lot, and I am sure that you will too.

The text renders court briefings, cases, filings, and rulings readable and interesting. The text is well written and pertinent to today's challenges higher education faces regarding torts and all court cases from the institution of higher education up to today's amendments to law. Navigating the United States legal system as it relates to higher educational systems can be daunting, but Kaplin has translated the text material with no loss of original meaning. As an 18 year member of a national organization of constitutional law experts, and a 19 year member of a national organization of public policy experts, this Kaplin version of law particulars that are proprietary to law speaks plainly to me, the reader.

The book I received (textbook rental) had lots of highlighting and writing inside of it, which was a bit distracting for me. This has been my favorite class so far, and the book was much more interesting than I initially thought it would be. Gives court case specifics in relation to each higher education law topic that ties everything together in terms of application.

The book is very informative and breaks down useful information which is helpful when learning about education policies and law. The information is presented in such a way that the information can be put to use immediately. Titles, laws, and related cases are also provided in the text for each case.

Honestly, this is the most beneficial book that I have bought as a higher education professional. It gives great examples and is an important resource to keep with you as your career continues. I HIGHLY recommend a read through it, and more importantly to have it handy as a reference guide.

Very detailed history but the information is repetitive, ​and some of the groupings appear weird. Easier to use LexisNexis to discover the details and outcomes of the cases.

I just got done with my legal class and this book was great. Some bits can be dificult to get through, but most of it is easy to read for someone with no legal background! I used it a lot for class, and I imagine I will continue to use it in my career.

This book is designed to be used for graduate level course work in higher education law, as it may be challenging to approach alone with little experience reading law. It is incredibly approachable, thorough, and contains all the information you need to know for the topic. It is truly comprehensive. Lee and Kaplin do a great job incorporating all the relevant legal cases by subtopic and refer to them often, makes for excellent examples of the laws.

Excellent well written, peppy and hip guide to Venice organized by area. Up to date opening and closing hours--something missing in some other guides. Relevant historical and cultural information. The accuracy of restaurant recommendations as to description, cost and quality is impressive. Good for either the first time visitor to Venice with "Don't Miss" sections listing the most important attractions and for the experienced traveler who may have made several trips and wants to explore the city in depth.

Useful guide to Venice. A Lot of the food in Venice is downright awful and overpriced (and if you don't like seafood, good luck), so it was good to have a guide. The descriptions of the neighborhoods were good, and the history of things we were looking at was interesting.

Very helpful guide for a short trip to Venice, with plenty of excellent info on major and minor sights. Info is organized by neighborhood, which I did not find optimal--I would rather have had everything in an alphabetical list with a cross-reference by neighborhood.I gave this 4 instead of 5 starts because restaurant info is very limited, especially for casual quick-bite kinds of places.

Great guidebook. Very comprehensive.

I got this book along with “Net oF Beimg” for my boyfriend on our anniversary, I am so excited. As I stated in my review for that book, I just went through and placed sticky notes within the pages of art that means something to us personally. This book has information on Tool as well which is an added bonus!

I really thought there would be a lot more artwork in this book but there isn't much. Mostly it's descriptions of the meaning of the art, what inspired it, where it's currently displayed, etc... I thought this book was basically like a coffee table book - just photographs of art. I was tad disappointed when I discovered there weren't many photos.

My husband is hard to shop for. He doesn't make lists and doesn't ask for anything. He loves the band "Tool" and had showed me the artwork they included in liner notes and for merch. I looked up the artist and purchased this book for him. He never reads unless its on his phone and in had a good time watching him sit on the porch with a book. He really enjoyed admiring the artwork in this book and we keep it out as a coffee table book now, too. Beautiful works of art that are great conversation starters. If you have kids around and they happen to take a peek, be prepared to hear giggles over the anatomy drawings. ;)

I was a bit surprised to find that this was a fairly random collection of art from this artist. Commentators made some attempt to bring some coherence to the collection, but it felt like quite a reach. Out of the collection, only about 6 of the works felt like they were truly elevated. The rest just felt like quirky dabbling in one technique after another. But those 6 works certainly warrant at least 3 stars.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful book! Not much more to say here... A gorgeous display of a genius artist. I ended up writing one of the quotes from this book on the chalk board wall in my house. My five year old son loves to look at the artwork in this book and I can explain things to him on a higher level while he can look at a gorgeous depiction of a very complex concept. This is not a book for children, however... Supervision is most definitely advised!

For many years as an artist I have studied Alex's art and although I do not agree with everything he puts forth along with his art - this book is a classic. Very few have the type of insights he has and fewer the ability to put meaning into their artwork showing a greater picture than the art alone. It is no wonder why many musicians and artists enjoy what he has produced and continues to create. There really is something for every artist or creative soul to enjoy in this book. It is a great value for what he gives.

This is the most amazing art book. In the central part of the book, Alex Grey presents the human being layer by layer. Starting with the skeleton, he adds the nervous & circulatory systems, the viscera, the musculature, and finally the skin. Materialist would stop there. But Alex Grey has the eyes of a mystic, and continues to depict the etheric & energetic components of humanity, right up to the Void of pure consciousness. He also includes deities from east & west, showing that they too "mirror" what we are in our depths. Many of the later frames are suitable as objects of meditation. The most talented energy-healer I know seems to know everything about people just by looking at them, and she says what she sees is what Alex Grey paints. This book contains art that can put a person in touch with her deepest and noblest possibilities. This book is nothing less than a gift to the human race!

I always wanted an Alex Grey book. I seem to end up at the book store often whist tagging along. I don't purchase much from pshysical stores. Prices are always better on the internet. Whenever I'm in the book store I will stare at some pretty interesting books for hours. Once in a while there will be some that stick out and I just can't stop thinking about it!!!! I purchased this off Amazon while I was drunk hehehehe *red face* I'm absolutely so happy that I did. This book is one in which...I can look at...over and over and over and over and over. I now plan to buy a few more with his work.

I would have liked it to be broader in the work field and more helpful in different types of job interviews. With all that being said, it does give you some helpful tips and hints that can be used in all aspects of interviewing for a job. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to go into Management Consulting or who is looking to change positions in the company they are in now. I wasn't familiar with a case interview prior to reading this book, but now I feel like I'm better prepared for one if needed. Beyond the case interview, I think this book gives some good building blocks on how to solve problems (after all that's what consulting is, right?). I've seen and used many of these frameworks professionally without knowing them, specifically the internal/external framework. I've picked up a few more that I think will be useful as well. I found this book very interesting and useful.Interesting, because it follows the unstructured/structured approach to Case Interview, in the line of Victor Cheng book, but more specific to actual cases that firms are using today.Useful, because it contain 9 full cases that can be used to practice with a partner, or on your on. The simulations described in the cases, are very useful to understand the dynamics of the case interview, and how to apply frameworks to difficult cases.There is room from improvement? Sure there is!, but it is a great tool, that I used intensively for my Consultant interview at BCG.I am looking forward to see if there is a new release of this book.

Why does every former consultant think they’re an expert?
