Children ALWAYS say "do it again"!! A perfect gift book. The CD is great, and the kids love it in the car! The story guides young one to get up and get ready for the day...brushing teeth etc. Neil Sedaka"s song original" Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" is a tune from the past and grabs a Grammie's heart, bringing past and present together for Grand children who sing and clap along!!! LOVE this!

I gave this as a gift last weekend - My niece and nephew (ages 3 and 5) loved this book! They sat surprised and amused when their mom, aunt,and grandmother danced and sang to the title's song on the CD. They will soon love Neil's music as much as we do!Update: They have memorized this music and love singing it - their grandmother says they give impromptu 'concerts' even when away from the house/book. Awesome book!

As a teenager in the 60's, I was rockin & rollin with Neil Sedaka. I ordered the book & CD the same day I heard Neil on the radio promoting the book. I actually "sang" this book along with the CD to my 3 year old granddaughter. When we got to the end, she said "more Nana". By the 4th "reading" she was also singing the words. It was glorious sharing my old music with new words with my grandchild. The artwork is lively and colorful. When we were finished singing, we went through each page slowly and talked about each animal in the story and what they were doing. It was wonderful! Thank you Neil!!

This reviewer recalls the recent "The Wall Street Journal" article which questioned whether such a high number of reviews for a single product is ever warranted. In the case at hand, this reviewer believes that so many reviews, with such positive feedback, is testament to the quality of the original content as well as to the ongoing (and arguably increasing) relevancy of the material. Services marketing is the subject of this masterwork, and while subtitles for other books can be misleading at times, "Selling the Invisible" is truly a field guide to modern marketing - in the words of Beckwith a "how-to-think-about book", not necessarily a "how-to" book, "because if you think like these new marketers - if you think more broadly and deeply about services and their prospects - you will figure out dozens of better ways to grow your business". The author explains that "this book is for all those service marketers: the 80 percent of us who do not manufacture products - and the other 20 percent who do", and that "the new marketing is more than a way of doing; it is a way of thinking. It begins with an understanding of the distinctive characteristics of services - their invisibility and intangibility - and of the unique nature of service prospects and users - their fear, their limited time, their sometimes illogical ways of making decisions, and their most important drives and needs." The format of this book greatly aids the content, as it is divided into chapters by subject matter and further broken down into discussions of 1 to 3 pages that are expected to be easily digestible by even the most book-weary readers. The core problem of service marketing, service quality, is first discussed, followed by a discussion on improving service quality, and later the fundamentals of service marketing: defining one's business and understanding what customers are really purchasing, positioning one's service, understanding prospects and buying behavior, and communicating to prospects. As a consultant, this reviewer was reminded of Gerald M. Weinberg's "The Secrets of Consulting: A Guide to Giving and Getting Advice Successfully" (see my review) while reading this text, because, like Weinberg, Beckwith brilliantly leads the reader through his thoughts one step at a time through subject matter that is not always intuitive, and is so fluent in his subject material that he is also able to arrive at his own principles and rules to elegantly apply the lessons that he has learned throughout his career. While this book is a quick read, the content might take time to digest if the reader is not familiar with service marketing. One of the quotes on the back of the hardcover edition of this book especially rings true: "After just forty-eight pages I'd written ten pages of notes and had more ideas than I could implement in a year. Terrific." As a consultant, this reviewer highly recommends this book to everyone in business, especially the chapter that addresses what the author views as the 18 fallacies of planning.

I had this professor for one of my college courses and this book was a required reading. It was a really easy read, but boring at times, and many of the claims/statements were super obvious. Like someone else had already mentioned, he didn't really support his research claims with extensive experimentation (aside from the fMRIs) nor did he talk about the perspective of introverts and people who aren't overly social (and don't want to be), so overall I personally found it to be a very superficial read.

Psychology, sociology and anthropology have been dominated by authors and theories that can be described kindly as “imaginative.” Lieberman here outlines recent developments in neuroscience that finally offer the hope of understanding the connections of mind to society in a way that is authentic and perhaps even practical. Highly recommended.

So my background is in therapy, and am always looking for books to enhance my understanding of human nature. This is one of the best books I've read, and feel the implications discussed in this book are some of the most important we need to be aware of in appreciating who we are. The author made a persuasive case with this book that our social connections really make or break us. There was just so much good information in this book that I see myself rereading it over the years to fully internalize and understand what to do with this important information.

Matthew Lieberman has brought together so much science on why we do what we do and feel how we feel. This was a fascinating book on the field of social cognitive neuroscience. So well written. Anyone with an interest in the human brain will love this book.

Read the first few pages and this book and it is mind blowing...i am a foreigner living in the US and one of the things i have struggled with is blending in and building solid relationships with people, for different reasons including my accent, cultural differences and lack of enough commonality. Social pain is just as real as physical pain, and the author does an excellent job of demonstrating ...can wait to finish the rest

The author is very knowledgeable on the subject and the studies he presents are interesting. I wish he would go into more detail with some of the studies that he talks about. While some of the neuroscience findings are surprising, the ultimate conclusion that humans have a social brain is not. I would still recommend this book.

Very readable book on how humans are hard-wired for connection and how that impacts all aspects of our lives. Not overly clinical or technical but comprehensive, and an easily-digestible writing style. Fully recommend if you're trying to understand the human condition and/or psyche at a deeper level.

An amazing up-to-date explanation of how we relate. For a future edition, and as a carer of my wife with Alzheimer's disease, I would like Matthew to consider a chapter on sustaining relationships when a person has advanced dementia.

This book is a description of the conflict back and forth between the settlers and the Indians in Illinois Territory during the War of 1812. Of course the highlight of the book is the Fort Dearborn massacre which apparently occured at the intersection of Michigan and Roosevelt in Chicago.However, to me the rest of the book also provided some interesting insights. There was a lot of conflict in the Illinois Territory during this period. For example, there are a lot of examples of Indian attacks on settler cabins and the murder of women and children. There were also a lot of responses from the militia that was defending the settlers.The descriptions of the battles are well written and researched. The US Military's taking and loss of Prarie Du Chien on the Mississippi near the Wisconsin River is one example. The attempt of Zachary Taylor, the future president to chastise the Sauk Indians, led by Black Hawk (the Indian who named the Chicago hockey team), is another example.The book also does a good job of focusing on the heroes and villains of this period. Black Hawk is one hero, considered the bravest Indian after Tecumseh. On the US side Howard, Clark, Taylor are just a small list of the great leaders. They not only defended the territory of Illinois, but led the military response for Indian massacres of civilians, and did it with very few resources. To many of them, it was draining on their mental and physical well being.I recommend this book for anyone interested in US History. It is well written and well reseached.

Typically the only things mentioned are the fall of Detroit and Mackinac, the latter because of the creative way in which it was captured. This book explains and discusses the entire regional effect. I was interested in particular to see how the Battle of Put-In-Bay affected the British on the Mississippi. The author spends real time discussing the situation from the perspective of all four sides there. (The Americans, the British, the pro-British natives and those who were neutral.)

This book is meticulously researched and very well written. It is a gem for those interested in history and in filling gaps where there has previously been no real documentation of events. The author has expertly taken historical facts and figures from this time and woven them into interesting stories that will hold the reader's interest. The book gives the reader an insight into the interesting and courageous people who lived at this time and helped to forge an important part of our history.

This book is a great read and fills a void of information on this era in history, especially if you are Illili.

The book fills an important need, reminding readers of the significance of the War of 1812 to the history of Ilinois. The native Americans were the true losers; the French, although driven out, were finally awarded compensation through the courts. History worth knowing.

I was quite disappointed in this book, one of a long-standing and popular travel series.I would have expected a good summary of how to plan a journey from Athens to one or more islands, but the closet thing to it was so skimpy as to be useless.For boat schedules, the book refers the reader to the New York Times International Edition, a print daily. Now this seems absurd to me, since I know that full schedules are available on the internet. I checked that mine is the 2018 edition, but this reference must not have been updated in decades (that’s my supposition).This sentence appears (Kindle edition loc 607): “All islands are served by air if you would prefer flying, but not all of these islands have airports.” It’s hard to know what to make of this except to guess that the editor was busy with another book when this one was being finalized.

This was an excellent, inexpensive book on Greek Islands.
