Since I am from "peripheral country" myself, I understand perfectly what Carl Magnus Palm has to say and how difficult it is to break into "big time" not to mention hostility at home and suspicious attitude self-important music establishment has towards "provincial newcomers". Reading about all the harassment they had to endure at every step, it's miracle they actually created any music at all - author cleverly explains prejudice music circles always have about commercially successful acts and how every victory (be it Eurovision or chart-topping album) was quickly turned against Abba to the point that their music was not played in their own country for the unspeakable sin of being successful.Palm is very good at his writing - he never gushes or fans over his subjects but clear-headedly states the facts, numbers and informations, explains how story unfolded and provides some very interesting anecdotes and opinions along the way: Benny describing "schlager" music like country with german beat and Agnetha reflecting on their Australian experience saying "It's a thin line between ecstatic adulation and menace. It can turn around in a flash."Excellent music biography - probably definitive on this subject,hardly anybody can improve - that is deservedly classic. I actually read it twice, and in both occasions it was truly page-turning, one-sitting experience. Couldn't put it down first time around and yesterday treated myself with it again, love this book.

This book was a joy to read, it flows well and held my interest...so much so that I - well, let me put it this way: if you are in love with ABBA'S music, as I am, don't begin reading too late in the day or you will be up all night! (a couple of nights actually) Because this book paints quite a large and mesmerizing portrait of each of the 4 individuals who called themselves ABBA, coming together (thank goodness!) to create gems for us all.

I almost laughed when I read the parts about the melancholy nature of Swedes but as I'm in the process of reading a Garbo biography, maybe the author's point is correct - blast me if you want and call me un-PC, etc. but maybe it's the Swedish way. It was a joy to read this book and learn some of how they song crafted, and the trials and tribulations they went through in the throes of stardom - the opening chapters on each member were a delight, too, and I'm glad Palm didn't skimp on their formulative era either - I was especially surprised to read about the scorn and negativity ABBA felt from their own country, as if the whole nation had decided collectively that they weren't "cool," taking their cues from the country's music press. A must for ABBA fans or even anyone who has a mild interest in them.

This book is definitely for ABBA fans who haven't had access to much information about the group. It is all gathered together here and makes for very interesting reading. The style may be a bit dry, as others have stated, but none of these people are incredibly flamboyant anyway (70s costumes aside!). I learned a lot more about each of the members than I ever knew before, which was very satisfying. There was also more information about their interactions as two couples outside the group and the friendship between Frida and Agnetha in those early years when they lived near each other.Frida definitely pops out of this book as the most interesting member. Her life has been quite a trial and she's definitely a strong woman to have survived all of this. In this Oprah-age it's important for people to remember that it wasn't all that long ago that depression and psychiatry were taboo subjects that were scorned and frowned upon. Frida was coping with depression before there was decent medication to help and before going to therapy was as common as going to the movies.Palm does a fairly good job of keeping things in the perspective of the time in which they took place. I agree with others that he does seem to be a bit negative about ABBAs music and the solo careers later on. Agnetha's three solo albums all have fun, enjoyable music on them and sound current to the 1980s. Frida's last album Djupa Andetag is also better than he claims. I do speak Swedish and the songs are very enjoyable and not all "happy fulfillment" like he says. Vem kommer såra vem ikväll (Who Will Hurt Whom Tonight) is about the disintigration of a relationship. I was surprised to hear that Agnetha turned down a duet with Frida for this album. I have several Marie Fredriksson CDs, but it would have been great to hear that "Third Voice" again.This book is a great addition to any ABBA fan's collection and certainly the most thorough and detailed information about the individual members.

This is a great book to have. It was a book that I enjoyed at a time in my life when I needed to understand forgiveness a little deeper. I keep it around so that in those moments when I need it I can pick it back up.

I never thought of "forgiveness as a form of love" until I read it in the book.Reading about forgiveness is one thing, but having a mentor walk you thru the steps is another. Iyanla is authentic...she doesn't sugar coat anything. She says for some the process can be like extracting a tooth without Novocain (which I can relate to as I sit with a tooth dangling, waiting for my oral surgery appointment) and for others like walking up a steep mountain with 100 pounds on your back.I love her candidness - she was going to beat the crap out of someone and she isn't even prone to violence. Someone real is my hero, not to say that I put her on a pedestal. I just respect people who are frank. Venus Andrecht is another woman I love (she's a radio personality and intuitive counselor. I don't like some things about her, but I respect her and love her regardless of any flaws.) The same is true with Iyanla. If you've read Peace from Broken Pieces, this is the next book.Disclaimer - I haven't gone through all 21 days, just the first and I perused the rest of the days. Iyanla recommends 30-60 minutes a day as you need to journal and process stuff and do the work. I just don't have kind of time commitment right now, but vacation is coming - Hallelujah. I love the concepts and will work the book when I have 21 days to devote to the whole process.Also, I would advise getting the physical version of the book. Kindle is great for space saving, but I'd rather be writing in a physical book. On the other hand, keeping notes on the Kindle version is private.If you sign up with Hay House, verifying your purchase, there are lots of bonuses including an upcoming and free internet workshop/lesson (valued at $49) and audio lessons and PDFs, etc.The EFT portions can seem daunting, but the content, otherwise, is engaging.

This book has helped to fundamentally shift my perspective in certain areas of my life. Where previously I was stuck in self righteous blame and judgement, through the very simple tapping processes in this book I have been able to let go of so much anger and justification and blame. I am so much more at peace and am able to engage with the same people in a neutral manner, which really helps to gain more positive outcomes. The beautiful prayers and stories also help to soften and shift mindset. I would recommend this book to anyone who has even a small spark of anger, self righteousness or judgement in them, for a quick return to peace.

I LOVED this Workbook. I’ve learned The Power of Forgiveness is not about Being Weak or Being Seen as weak but Truly understanding oneself emotionally and the Lessons we attract from our own Emotions and Mind state. “I Forgive Myself” is a Powerful Statement.

The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider is a new adult book and a good one.The characters are interesting and the story is full of witty dialogs and is generally well developed and for sure not trivial. The writing style of Ms Schneider is quite good which is impressing since this is her first book.Overall the book will be to the taste of people who liked Hopeless by Colleen Hoover or The perks of being a wallflower. One may say that The Beginning of Everything is a book which is closer to The Fault in Our Stars by John Green than to Thoughtless series by SC Stephens (the latter is all about blushing and lip-biting...).The book is not exactly happy end romance. It is more about the problems that a young adult encounters and the decisions one may need to take if to become a decent person.All in all, if you seek for an interesting and entertaining book for young adults, this one is a good choice and you will not regret reading it. It may be even more interesting to young people than I can imagine (being 36 years old). Still a good read for the old dogs.

What’s weird about this book is that the exact things I want to criticize about the book are only possible because Robin Schneider crafted a good plot and created nuanced characters that lend themselves to criticism better, than say, a John Green book (I use the comparison because it seems to be a selling point for her book). Overall, I like the book for the way it gets us thinking about the class divisions and cliques in school better than say The Great Gatsby, required reading in high school that doesn’t really help young people explore this in the same way the book does.John Green books are popular because he doesn’t try to imitate kids in his characters. He doesn’t really try to drop in pop culture references he doesn’t understand or make any apologies for having characters who are essentially mini-adults. In this book, I do feel she tried to do that, and although I’m not a teenager, I feel it was the greatest problem of the book. But in making these stereotypes and a main character who understands how pathetic it was to “rule the school” – we also realize how pathetic it is to judge those who rule the school. In many ways, I would say I didn’t particularly like any of the characters, but enjoyed the book as a whole. It was a quick read with an interesting message at the end that made sense.

I am honestly up in the air about how I feel about this book. On one hand I really liked it but then there were times I was annoyed with some of the cliches. The jocks are bad and the smart kids are the really cool kids. A lot of the characters fit their stereotypes but even though their were common tropes I felt the story was unique. I am a huge fan of smart, quotable dialogue and this book had a plethora. Plus it had a lot of nerdy pop culture references. Any Harry Potter references gets a gold star in my book.Like the cover picture this book was a roller-coaster but with less twist and turns. There were a few lag moments and I think its due to how I felt about Cassidy. I wasn't that big of a fan and didn't see the aura about her. Yes, she was smart, pretty girl who went against the grain of what other thought but I still thought she was fitting some stereotype of someone above high school.Overall, I did like the book. I liked Erza and really liked Toby. I thought the book was really refreshing to read I and it wasn't your typical YA read. It had a lot of depth and it had me contemplating life even after I finish reading it.

He no longer understands who he is or where he fits in. This was the beginning to everything, which would shape his character and help guide him on his path to self-discovery.I loved this book. It is filled with so many colorful and interesting characters. Ezra, our poor struggling narrator, who is trying to move on with his life and deal with the loss of who he thought he was. Cassidy, the mysterious new girl, who ignites a flame in Ezra, encouraging him to function outside of other people's expectations. Toby, his estranged childhood friend, who understands that our real friends are the ones who are there for us at our lowest points.This book was honest, funny, sad, tragic. I felt all sorts of emotions. The book is filled with philosophical musings, literary discussions, mock debates and heart-to-heart discussions. I kept wanting to find out what was going to happen next and at the end, I wanted more.

I saw this book while visiting the US Space and Rocket Center, and was really captivated by it... except for price. So when I got home I checked Amazon and found it much cheaper so I ordered.This book will really appeal to space geeks like me. There are millions of books of spaceflight pictures, but this is the only one that revolves around the T-38 training aircraft that the astronauts use to train.The images are well reproduced and 98% are ones that have not been published before. Some of the images are from the ground and others are from the cockpit while in flight.Overall in the end this book is great and I look at it frequently since it sits on my coffee table. The book will appeal to space geeks, but if you like good photography of airplanes in general, you will enjoy this book as well!

WOW, phenomenal book! I met Story this past week when we was a guest speaker at our aerospace program. I was so fortunate as to receive an award presented by him and attend a small VIP dinner in his honor. His stories and his spirit absolutely enthralled me and my husband and I ordered this book as soon as we realized it existed. Definitely a must purchase for an aviation enthusiast, especially those who love the Talon. Best book purchase in a long time!

Wonderful combination of flight, art, and history. Bought this for my brother, who flew this wonderful machine for a few years while in the USAF. Did not come in shrink wrap, so I was able to look through it. Wow!

I expected some good photos but was completely unprepared for the quality and depth of the material.The photos are evocative. The narrative is intensely personal. This humble expression of such deep affection for this machine by a man of such lofty accomplishment was unexpected, heartwarming, and infectious.If you have any interest in aviation or photography at all, you will enjoy this.

Although it's a picture book- very well written and packed with facts! Loved it! Learned about his helping children during the Holocaust, and also about his name change.

Excellent book, but the subject matter may be too heavy for some children. That being said, it is discussion inducing.

one might think this is a book without words, by the title; but, the book tells about the business of being Marcel Marceau. the pictures are good. Makes a good family book.

Noble, smart, humorous and charming. Marceau took up his craft to save children and this brings his humanity to life.

Wonderful, beautifully illustrated book on the life a real person, great for elementary students.
